Prayer for Reconcililiation
“Be reconciled to God” (II Corinthians 5.20, HCSB)
Dear God of reconciliation,
Bring us together Collect us from all continents Draw us from all countries Lead us from all cities Reconcile us to You Bring us together Gather us in one place Assemble us in one Body Treasure us in Your Heart Reconcile us to You Bring us together Carry us, broken and confused Fetch us from the darkness of despair Get us away from race and Reconcile us to YouPrayer for Awareness
“From now on then we do not know anyone in a purely human way. Even if we have known Christ in a purely human way, yet now we no longer know Him like that. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come” (II Corinthians 5.16-17, HCSB).
Dear God of Newness,
Give us the faith to believe that You see us differently so that we might see ourselves and others differently and look at the new person that has come.
Give us the patience to believe that You work differently so that we might see the plan differently and look at the new possibility that has come.
Give us the courage to believe that You see time differently so that we might see the past differently and look at the new time that has come.
Awaken us from the slumber of race and its progeny. Shake us of its pseudo- comfort and give us the strength and the courage to open our eyes, minds and hearts so that we might look at the newness that has come. For in Christ, we are in a new position and in turn, our description of our person, other people, the past and God’s plan must change. Make us aware. Amen.
Prayer for Comfort
“Again, I observed all the acts of oppression being done under the sun. Look at the tears of those who are oppressed; they have no one to comfort them. Power is with those who oppress them; they have no one to comfort them” (Ecclesiastes 4.1, HCSB).
Dear God of Comfort,
Open Your arms; Knowing that this is the only access and acceptance that we have ever needed. Gather us in Your arms; Knowing that this position will provide the security that we are searching for. Hold us in Your arms; Knowing that this is the safest place in the whole wide world. Wrap us in Your arms; Knowing that this is the only place of luxury and ease. There is no comfort for any of us a part from You. Draw us to the Comforter, Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
